PASMS becomes PAYCRO
May 23, 2020
Hello everyone!
After our first drive, we received many donations. Thank you to all who donated! We really appreciate the support :-)
But after our donation, we realized that the demand for sewn masks from the Palo Alto community was low and that we were not having much impact on the community through our old PASMS approach. Emily and I also learned that most hospitals in our area were already stocked up in medical supplies. With our abundance of supplies from the drive, Emily and I thought our resources would be best utilized by donating them to other groups of people who have been heavily impacted by the virus, like the elderly population and homeless population. Because of this, we wanted to try and organize drives that focused more on these groups of people. After discussing this with our two new awesome members, Myra and Rida, we all concluded that it would be best to revamp our original idea and form PAYCRO together. With this, PAYCRO, Palo Alto Youth Coronavirus Relief Organization, was born!
Making Progress
April 29, 2020
Today Emily and I (Esther) have hand sewn 11 masks total! We also have partnered with the new teen-led organization Bay Area Youth Coronavirus Relief Organization to try to work together and plan large scale events to try and do our parts in helping healthcare professionals and the Bay Area combat this virus. We are excited to announce that we will be holding a sewn mask drive this weekend and we hope to receive a lot of sewn mask donations! We plan to use these sewn masks for civilian use after our next drive (after the sewn mask drive), which will be the medical supplies trade-off drive. We hope to see you there!
Pictured on the left are a couple of Esther's sewn masks. They are made from old t-shirts!
